Description:

Achieving academic qualifications at 16 has life-long implications in terms of post-16 choices & socio-economic outcomes. This workshop will share a developing model for identifying & quantifying potential risk and protective factors to target interventions. Through the use of case studies we will practice identifying and quantifying these factors to determine the impact of both types of factor on the individual student as a tool for making a decision around the next steps in supporting the student to achieve academic success. This is a holistic & individualised approach which serves as an attempt to invite multiple stakeholders to collate and quantify anecdotal and qualitative student data.

Inquiry questions for the session: What does global research suggest is risk and protective factors for adolescent learners? How can we simplify the identification of students at risk to ensure timely response and supports are in place? How can we 'measure' anecdotal data?
