Description:

In this inspiring and reflective session, participants will explore the transformative power of reciprocal service—acts of service that not only benefit others but also enrich our own sense of purpose and wellbeing. Using the case study of Leading Young Women—a student-led service group founded by Katie Wellbrook—this session will trace the group’s journey from grassroots activism to regional recognition, culminating in receiving the prestigious EARCOS Humanitarian Award.

Participants will learn how the group used the award grant to initiate a powerful project addressing period poverty in Tondo, Philippines, and how this work not only uplifted communities but also deepened the wellbeing, empathy, and leadership capacity of the young women involved. This session invites educators, students, and leaders to reimagine service not as charity, but as a reciprocal exchange—an opportunity to empower others while cultivating our own resilience and growth.
